Fix A Problem
Fixes for the most common Convertable problems: adding files, converting, saving, sign-in and Pro.
Adding Files
That format is not supported. See Supported Formats. Convert the file to a supported format with another app first.
Folders cannot be added. Open the folder and pick the files inside.
Convertable needs about twice the file's size free on your device. Free up space and add the file again.
Drag and drop works on iPad and Mac. On iPhone, tap Tap To Add Files instead.
Files with the same name and size are added only once.
Choosing Formats
Only formats that every file in the group can become are shown. Remove the file that cannot, or convert it separately. Some image formats, such as WebP and AVIF, also depend on what your device can create.
Convertable can read MP3, FLAC and AAC but cannot create them. Audio can become M4A, WAV, AIFF or CAF.
Convertable does not create those formats. Documents can become PDF, Plain Text, Rich Text, Markdown or HTML.
It only appears for image to image conversions. See Set Photo Options.
Remove Location & Camera Data is on by default. Turn it off before you convert.
Converting
A file cannot be converted to its own format, for example JPEG to JPEG. Choose a different format.
The file may be damaged or in a variant Convertable cannot read. Try another copy.
The message says "The conversion couldn't finish. If the file is very large, try converting it on its own." Convert the video separately. If it says "This video couldn't be converted", it may use a codec this device cannot re-encode.
"This file is protected and can't be converted." Protected files cannot be converted.
On iPhone and iPad, iOS only lets a conversion run for a short time once you leave the app. If it takes that time back, the files left are marked Cancelled. Stay in Convertable and convert them again. On a Mac this does not happen.
"This PDF has no text to extract — it's most likely a scan." Convert it to an image instead.
A PDF can have up to 20 pages for an image. Split it with Split PDF, then convert the parts.
A GIF made from a video keeps the first 6 seconds, at a reduced size.
Saving
Allow Convertable to add to Photos in your device's Settings, then save again.
Convertable removes its copies of converted files after 7 days, and when you sign out. Save files from the results screen before you leave. Tap Done only after saving.
It only appears when the results include an image or video. Use Save To Files or Save To Finder….
The message shows how many saved. Save again to try the rest.
PDF Tools
Merge needs at least two PDFs. Tap Add More.
Use Remove Password on it first.
Check the password and try again. Convertable cannot recover a lost password.
Remove Password only works on a PDF that has a password.
Type the same password in both boxes.
A PDF that is mostly text may not shrink much. Compress works best on scans and image-heavy PDFs.
Check your spam or junk folder and that the address is right. After 60 seconds, tap Didn't Get The Email? Resend.
Open the link on the device where you asked for it, within an hour. Or enter the 8-digit code instead. If it still fails, start again from the Account tab.
Sign out first to use a different account.
Confirm the new address with the code or link sent to it. Your old address stays active until you do.
Read the message and follow its last line, which is usually to check your connection and try again.
Plans And Pro
The Free Plan has 3 conversions a month. The count resets at the start of the next calendar month (UTC). Or upgrade. See Plans And Billing.
If you are signed in on the Free Plan, Convertable checks your count online before it converts. Check your connection and try again. Pro does not need this check.
Pro is tied to an account, so Convertable asks you to sign in first. The Pro screen opens once you are signed in.
Sign in to the same account. Then go to the Account tab and tap Restore Purchases.
There are no purchases to restore on this Apple Account. Use the Apple Account you bought with.
Pro turns on when the purchase is approved.
The switch happens at the end of your current yearly period.
The App
Tap Open App Store and update Convertable.
Convertable is down for a short time for maintenance. Check back later.
Still stuck? Go to the Account tab and tap Contact Support, or contact support. Include your device, its system version and the version at the bottom of the Account tab.
