Convertable
Convert Files
Run a conversion, watch the progress, and cancel a batch if you need to.
Convertable converts your files one after another on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
Steps
On Choose Formats, tap Convert.
The screen shows each file with its status: Waiting, Converting, then Converted with the new size. A bar shows overall progress.
To stop, tap Cancel Conversion. On a Mac or an iPad with a keyboard, press Esc or ⌘..
When the run finishes, the title says All Converted, or for example 3 Of 5 Converted. Next, save or share your files.
What You Get
- A converted copy of each file. Your original file is not changed.
- A preview button on each finished file. It opens a Quick Look preview.
- A clear status for any file that did not convert: Failed, Skipped or Cancelled. The message says why.
If It Doesn't Work
- A file failed: read the message on its row. It may be damaged, or use something this device cannot convert. Try that file on its own.
- "The conversion couldn't finish. If the file is very large, try converting it on its own.": convert the large file separately.
- "This file is protected and can't be converted.": protected files cannot be converted.
- Files say Cancelled after you left the app: see Fix A Problem.
- "Couldn't Check Your Allowance": see Fix A Problem.
Limits
- On iPhone and iPad, a running batch carries on for a short time if you switch to another app. If iOS takes that time back, the files left are marked Cancelled. Stay in Convertable for large batches.
- On a Mac, a running batch keeps going while the app is in the background.
- Each file that converts counts as one conversion on the Free Plan, 3 a month. Files that fail do not count.
- Leaving the results without saving discards the converted files. Convertable asks first.
