The Basics

What is Convertable? It converts photos, documents, audio and video between formats on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. See Convertable.

Which devices does it work on? iPhone, iPad and Mac. It needs iOS or iPadOS 18, or macOS 15, or later. See Get Convertable.

Is it one purchase for all my devices? Yes. It is one app, and Convertable Pro belongs to your account, so it works on every device you sign in on.

Does it work offline? Conversions run on your device, so they do not need a connection. A signed-in Free Plan user is checked online before converting, and signing in and buying need a connection.

Which languages does it support? English (UK and US), Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), Russian, Spanish and Turkish.

Privacy

Are my files uploaded? No. Conversions run on your device. See Privacy And Data.

Do I need an account to convert files? No. You need one to buy Pro. See Sign In Or Sign Out.

Does my converted photo keep its location? No, not by default. Remove Location & Camera Data is on. You can turn it off. See Set Photo Options.

Can I stop it sending usage data? Yes. Turn off Share Usage Data on the Account tab. Crash reports are still sent, and do not say who you are.

How do I delete my account? Account tab, Delete Account. You can export your details first. See Delete Your Account.

Formats

Which formats can it create? Images: JPEG, PNG, HEIC, TIFF, GIF, BMP, ICO, JPEG 2000, WebP and AVIF (as your device allows), and PDF. Documents: PDF, Plain Text, Rich Text, Markdown and HTML. Audio: M4A, WAV, AIFF, CAF. Video: MP4, MOV, M4V. See Supported Formats.

Can it convert to MP3? No. It can read MP3, but it cannot create it.

Can it convert to Word, Pages or EPUB? No. It does not create those formats.

Can it convert HEIC to JPEG? Yes. Add the photo, then choose JPEG. See Choose Formats.

Can it make a GIF from a video? Yes. A GIF keeps the first 6 seconds. See Extract Audio Or Make A GIF.

Can it take the audio from a video? Yes. Choose M4A, WAV, AIFF or CAF for a video.

Can I turn a PDF into images? Yes, into PNG, JPEG or TIFF. All pages become one image, up to 20 pages.

Can I get text out of a PDF? Yes, into Plain Text, Rich Text, Markdown or HTML. A scanned PDF has no text to extract.

Can I make one PDF from several photos? Yes. Choose PDF and turn on Combine Into One PDF. See Combine Images Into One PDF.

Converting

Can I convert many files at once? Yes. Add them all, pick a format for each kind and convert them together. See Choose Formats.

Can I mix photos and videos in one batch? Yes. Each kind gets its own format.

Can I stop a conversion? Yes. Tap Cancel Conversion, or press ⌘. or Esc.

Is my original file changed? No. Convertable makes a new file.

Where do my converted files go? Save them to Photos, Files or Finder, or share them, from the results screen. See Save Or Share Results.

How long does Convertable keep converted files? Seven days. Save them before you leave.

PDF Tools

What can the PDF tools do? Merge, split, compress, password protect and remove a password. See Merge PDFs.

Do PDF tools use my free conversions? No.

Is a password-protected PDF very secure? It deters casual access but is not strong encryption. Do not rely on it for very sensitive documents.

Can you recover a PDF password for me? No. You must know it.

Plans

How many conversions are free? 3 a month on the Free Plan. See Plans And Billing.

What does Pro add? Unlimited conversions, Bulk Processing and Priority Support.

What plans are there? Monthly and Yearly. Prices are shown in the app, in your own currency.

When does my free count reset? At the start of each calendar month, UTC.

How do I cancel? Account tab, Cancel Or Manage Billing. See Manage Your Subscription.

Does deleting my account cancel my subscription? No. Cancel in the App Store.

Pro is missing on a new device. What do I do? Sign in, then tap Restore Purchases on the Account tab.

Where do I find my version number? At the bottom of the Account tab.
