Glossary

Plain-English meanings of Travelyfe words and developer terms, and the one spelling we use for each.

This page explains the words used across Travelyfe Help. Where a word has more than one spelling or name, it also says which one we use.

Travelyfe Words

Itinerary. Your plan for a journey, with days, stops, flights, hotels and more. We always say "itinerary", never "trip".

Published. An itinerary that is on Explore. Anyone can find and read it. See Publish To Explore.

Private. An itinerary that is not on Explore. Only you and the people you invite can see it.

Shared. An itinerary you invited people to, as a Viewer or an Editor. It can still be private.

Viewer. Someone who can see an itinerary but not change it.

Editor. Someone who can change an itinerary. See Plan An Itinerary With Friends.

Explore. The tab where you find itineraries that other travellers published.

Pro. Short for Travelyfe Pro, the paid plan. We write "Travelyfe Pro" the first time on a page and "Pro" after that. See Plans And Billing.

Lifetime. A Pro plan with no end date.

Import. Turning a link, photos, a video, a PDF or pasted text into an itinerary. See Import An Itinerary.

Stop. One place in a day of an itinerary.

Assistant. An AI app such as ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity. When you connect it to Travelyfe, we call that connection a connector. A program that connects to Travelyfe through MCP is an MCP client.

Developer Terms

API. The way another program talks to Travelyfe.

MCP (Model Context Protocol). The standard way an assistant connects to an app. See Connect An MCP Client.

Streamable HTTP. How MCP messages travel over a normal web connection.

OAuth 2.1. The standard way to let an app act for you without sharing your password. See Authentication.

PKCE. Proof Key for Code Exchange. A one-time secret your app makes for each sign-in so a stolen code cannot be used.

Bearer token. A key sent with each request. Whoever holds it can use it, so keep it private.

ETag. A label for one version of an itinerary.

If-Match. A header that says "only change this if it is still this version". See Versions And Retries.

Idempotency. Doing the same request twice has the same effect as doing it once. The Idempotency-Key header makes a retry safe.

UUID. A long random identifier, such as 9b1c2d3e-5f60-4a71-8b92-0c1d2e3f4a5b.
